OLDSMAR, FL (June 20, 2013) – Jeff Scullin, Editor of the St. Petersburg Tribune, took time out of his busy schedule to address the NPRC. During his presentation, Jeff discussed how the digital media has changed news reporting. He also discussed his newspaper’s activities and plans to branch out in Pinellas County.
When asked about the recent government surveillance of news agencies and the public, Jeff answered, “When the government can use its surveillance power to examine what the average citizen can have a potentially chilling effect causing people to stop asking questions. That would be a dangerous precedent. More voices are an important part of Democracy.”
We appreciate Jeff visiting with us. He was very down-to-earth and answered our questions candidly.
